It is unfortunate that Pakistan is included among the top ten countries where millions of people do not have three times of food and go to bed without having meal. We are progressing, we have a very rich land, and we have Balochistan which is full of natural resources and profiting the entire country. Still, we are listening that a mother sells her children due to hunger. It is estimated that six people out of ten are food insecure.
In the last decade, we have witnessed several natural disasters including heavy torrential rains, floods, earthquakes and long periods of drought causing hunger in the country. Instead of that, the government is not willing to work on the important section including spending less funds on agriculture and fertile lands are to be taken care of by investigating more to produce more and decrease hunger. The people in restaurants, wedding parties, hotels and other places waste a lot food, but never bother them to provide the poor. Around 40 percent of the food is wasted in Pakistan if these foods are given to hunger then we will be successful in eradicating hunger.
According to research, Pakistan ranks third world country where hunger has completely affected the people. The World Food Program estimated that around 43 percent of the population remain food insecure which are resulting in many dangerous diseases. Around 63 country’s population is living in rural areas and they are dependent on agriculture. Despite being productive in the farming still food insecurity is available. The children are dying in the laps of their mother because of starvation.
Earlier in 2015, a huge target was set to finish poverty in 2030, and world leaders agreed to work on this sector and eradicate poverty. Poverty is the main cause of hunger. Nearly 50 percent population of Pakistan is passing their lives below poverty. Only eradicating poverty, the problem of hunger will get finished. It has been almost two decades that Pakistan is in war, so billion of rupees have been spent on eliminating terrorism which is another problem causing and increasing hungers in Pakistan. The government has spent money and gave full attention to protect the people from terrorism, but they have never paid attention on those people who are dying of hunger. Still the hunger are waiting for the support of government. They are waiting, when will they get three times of food , when will they provide food to the innocent children and end hunger?
It is the responsibility of the government to take care of whole problems. Unfortunately, government is not paying attention on other growing problems, and just concentrating to finish terrorism. The other problems such as poverty, child sexual abuse, child labor, child marriage, unemployment and many more. The government is only working to eliminate terrorism still failed to finish the terrorists. Our leaders should work on these problems and ensure that no problem exists in Pakistan.
