Storytime: Be honest

By: Kamber Jan

ONCE upon a time, there was a boy named Basit and he had an older brother named Ali and their father passed away.

Before their father death, he said to his children, “I am anxious now because I can die at any moment because of my disease, so I called you both to stay together and work honestly and forbid begging from others.”

Ali paid close attention to his father and promised himself that he would work hard to earn money. Basit, on the other hand, was rude to others, he did not care about the suggestion of his father.

When his father left them, Ali did the same whatever his father said but Basit was a naughty boy and he did not do and he had a bad habit to steal people’s things.

Basit was dishonest, he wanted his brother Ali to be dishonest too. Basit tried many times to make him unfaithful and he made Ali realized that everything he was doing was completely wrong but Ali did not pay any attention to his brother and stuck to his father’s words. Due to which Basit left the home forever.

Ali was afraid of this because Ali, being the elder brother, had care for his younger brother Basit who had left the home. Once Ali was on his way home from work, he saw a rush standing on the same spot and beating a thief.

The sound of the thief nagged Ali to have look. He approached them and saw that the thief was none other than Basit. Ali’s tears fell when his brother was bleeding. Basit was beaten badly by people for stealing. Ali paid them and took his brother to the hospital for treatment.

After recovering, Ali took Basit home and advised him to quit stealing and start working with him. Fortunately, Basit accepted his brother’s offer and promised that he would never steal the things of other again.
