Article: Public library Turbat needs attention

Author: Abdul Rahman Khairabadi

A library is the most important place where students can properly manage their studies. Nevertheless, a library functions as the best place for a student. No doubt, a nation without persisting a library can lose the culture of education around itself. In other words, a library can probably be the best source to develop the culture of education in a society.

Besides this, a library is curious for a student to prepare for their examination without any disturbance and upheavals; it can support the students to maintain group study and can help them to maintain other basic procedures. It can enlighten a nation with education and surely creates an educational environment around the country.

One wonders, Balochistan is blessed with incredible and countless natural resources, but still deprived of the most fundamental needs. Turbat, the second largest city of Balochistan after Quetta with a vast population of 213 ,557, is afflicting for a library which impedes the education of Turbat. It is, however, clear to everybody that Turbat has been progressing an effective education around the complete Balochistan. Unfortunately, creating multiple impediments can prevent the education in many ways.

Additionally, Turbat has been possessing only one public library since 2013 which was established by the former Governor of Balochistan, Muhmmad Khan Achakzai but almost for last 6 months, it has remained dysfunctional without any prime aim. But the closure of the library was named of its building construction. Being resident of Turbat, I have not yet found anyone constructing it rather it was all an excuse to stop the students from coming to the library. The closure of it has brought an enormous disturbance on education of youths in Turbat, specially during vacations of Covid-19.

Certainly, we cannot find anywhere to peacefully prolong our study except a library that has been closed. In the period of this summer vacation, every student intends to prepare for their different sort of examination in Turbat but the closure of library is the matter.

Most importantly, students are known to be the heroes of their nations. Their struggles and efforts can be the source of progress of a nation. Disappointedly, their words for their needs are neglected. After facing a couple of upheavals due to library closure, they arise their voices for reopening the public library of Turbat to the concern authorities, but in return, they got nothing.

Thus, it is high time to draw the attention of the concern authorities towards students’ every problem. They need to ensure that the needs of students can be categorized into the most fundamental rights and the deprivation of students’ needs can be deemed a disloyal act of the state. Therefore, I plea to the concerned authorities to solve the problem of Turbat Public Library as soon as possible.

Poem: My soul

Poet: Chirag Nigwari (8 years, Balnigwar)

My mother is honest,

She takes care of guests,

She is the apple of my eyes,

She is my Paradise,

And she always spends time with me,

Because she loves me so much,

My mother is always active,

She always cares for me,

Book Review: The real struggle showed in Hemingway’s novel “The Old Man And The Sea”

Reviewed by: Muna Manzoor

THE struggle in life strengthen the individuals after every tough and hard circumstance. Hemingway in his book “The old man and sea” published in 1952, described a sorrowful life image with a bright colored ending. This book highlighted some multi – skills of an old man such as his strength, courage, mindful thoughts and his wide vision till his accomplishment.

The story spun around an old Cuban fisherman, Santiago, who was termed as “Salao” was deemed of owing a bad luck. Almost eighty four days of his continuous fishing, he turned back with no fish at all. The reason for that he surely knew not. Though the man of pure soul caught nothing, he still believed that a day of glory was waiting.

Meanwhile a very little boy joined the old kind man’s boat for fishing. The gloomy momentum remained constant in old fisher’s boat. They were in empty hands when looked back home. With no daily profit Moniolin’s father did not allow his son to accompany the man’s unfruitful boat. The old man was very alone in his boat and other fisher men found a chance to make fun of his miserable life twist. However, the boy felt uncomfortable while looking the courageous man alone. He, the little boy, joined his boat again. Cutting days by, the man of patients hooked a shark that he could not pull up instead the shark pulled the boat so that freed itself. The old Cuban fisherman found himself enjoying his journey in the sea.

Hence, he caught the largest fish he could never expected. His philosophy about the existence of a fish made him guilty to kill the fish and left the fish go and live.

This is all related to the emotion of the creatures. Human termed the superior species that it can to generate new thoughts, smartness, excellence and unique representative of the characters. We move to pay the prize of failures although much time our narrated life matching opinion have come uncleared. The part of life remains with its struggling events that beauty the catchy soul with observing eyes.

Book review: “Palestine’s children” of the Palestinian journalist, Ghassan Kanafani, worths a read

Reviewed by: Muneeb Maqsood,

Palestine’s children” fills the minds of readers with unimaginable scenarios of Palestine, and hearts with emotions for the beings out there. Authored by the journalist-cum-revolutionary activist, Ghassan Kanafani, this book picturizes the worst situations of Palestine back in 1960s and 70s; Palestine is in a resembling state as of the book today as well. The book comprises of 15 short stories unveiling to the world the face of real Palestine.

After my read to the heart-shaking collection from Ghassan, I could assume how Palestinians were threatened of life and property. They were in a state of hot water who were treated as animals. Some people were in constant fear of not dying, others were fighting the Israeli forces seeking for independence.

They were in sorry realm who were caged in their homes. All the basic fundamentals of the people out there were freezed; be it the right to movement or the property; the right of life or expression of their ideas; they were living a life same as hill in the world. The proportion of missing persons went up straight away. In fact, when someone was whisked off, families were used to not wait for their safe return. Among all these, they could not do a little. They could not voice for their sons.

Violence escalated by the force and raids were carried out everywhere. Jeweleries and other essential assets were looted. Everyone wanted to take their revenge from the external scavengers, but how could their courage emerge? They could merely watch everything happen in front of their eyes and become hapless. They knew they could get death penalty if they raised their voices or attempt to do anything against Israel. But remember, in such a movement, not all the people remain tacit. So as happened in Palestine back then.

One could take revenge by sacrificing their life. As a story in the book “Paper from Ramleh”, a shopkeeper’s wife and his daughter were killed by the soldiers in front of him. They killed his daughter at first upon which her wife resisted to them, and was wrapped with death too. He forcibly controlled his tears from falling at that very moment so that he might have emerged stronger thereafter. The helpless murders of his wife and daughter in front of him generated an emotion in him to take the revenge. Each time he took the weapon up, his wife and daughter appeared in his thoughts. But it could not restrain him from taking his revenge. He took a bomb and a shawl from store after which he went to Mayor’s office and blasted the bomb. He died. Or you can say he lived a life immortal.

Palestine is a holy land religiously, not only for Muslims but Jews as well. But the holy land has been converted into a bloody field, even till today. This book of Ghassan is a poster of Palestine. All one can feel from his heart after reading the stories in the book is that “Let Palestine live”.

Poem: Happiness

Poet: Altaf Adam

Happiness is a small word,

For it, all spend their subsistence,

We can’t buy happiness by money,

It can be bought through life journey,

For someone, it comes so easy,

But others, it makes crazy,

Also happiness is my target,

I work for and not forget,

Happiness is beauty of life,

Even though we get it by rife,

Happiness is the only beautiful thing,

For life, is considered as wing.

Storytime: Be honest

By: Kamber Jan

ONCE upon a time, there was a boy named Basit and he had an older brother named Ali and their father passed away.

Before their father death, he said to his children, “I am anxious now because I can die at any moment because of my disease, so I called you both to stay together and work honestly and forbid begging from others.”

Ali paid close attention to his father and promised himself that he would work hard to earn money. Basit, on the other hand, was rude to others, he did not care about the suggestion of his father.

When his father left them, Ali did the same whatever his father said but Basit was a naughty boy and he did not do and he had a bad habit to steal people’s things.

Basit was dishonest, he wanted his brother Ali to be dishonest too. Basit tried many times to make him unfaithful and he made Ali realized that everything he was doing was completely wrong but Ali did not pay any attention to his brother and stuck to his father’s words. Due to which Basit left the home forever.

Ali was afraid of this because Ali, being the elder brother, had care for his younger brother Basit who had left the home. Once Ali was on his way home from work, he saw a rush standing on the same spot and beating a thief.

The sound of the thief nagged Ali to have look. He approached them and saw that the thief was none other than Basit. Ali’s tears fell when his brother was bleeding. Basit was beaten badly by people for stealing. Ali paid them and took his brother to the hospital for treatment.

After recovering, Ali took Basit home and advised him to quit stealing and start working with him. Fortunately, Basit accepted his brother’s offer and promised that he would never steal the things of other again.

Letter: Governmental buses for business

By: ABDUL RAHMAN SHAHBEER (TURBAT)

OVER a few days before, a girl shared something in social media ( Facebook ) with adding that the students of far area who come by bus in college are being asked to pay money for the buses. It is quite shocking that the government had accommodated these buses for the means of free transportation to the far students who do not have accesses to transportation ; isn’t it an illegal and extreme work for the students ?

Indeed! Those students who travel through the governmental buses are poor and underprivileged students who do not afford for rents to cars and buses. Similarly, the drivers of the buses are forcefully bothering particularly the female students if they do not pay the rent ( 1000 ) rupee per month, they will not pick them to college. After informing about the complain to the principal of the college, the principal also favoured the drivers that they must pay for the governmental buses.

The drivers including the faculty, principals and every member of the colleges is only thinking for making kind of businesses in one another way.

Thus, as being a student, I plea to the high ranking authorities that they must not ignore this problem rather they shall step forward and take strict actions against businesses.

Storytime: Never trust strangers

By: Shargul Fazal

ONCE upon a time there was a boy whose name was Murad. He was the only son of his parents. His mother did her best to make her son better and taught him good lessons and guided him about right and wrong. One day when he was going to school his mother told him not to trust any stranger.

“What if someone asks for help?” Murad asked.

His mother replied, “Don’t talk to strangers, it will be better.”

“But helping is a good deed, Mom.” Murad said innocently

“Yes, of course, but if we trust everyone, we will be in trouble. Don’t take help from strangers and if someone gives you something to eat, take it but don’t eat.” His mother advised.

“Okay mom, I’ll remember this.” Murad said and went to school.

After a few moments, the time was almost off time of the school and the last bell rang. His friends asked her to play with them. He went with them, they played and had a lot of fun. Suddenly he noticed that he was getting late. He left his friends and picked up his bag and walked toward home.

A strange man stopped him and asked for the address of Delta School. He showed her the way to Delta but the man said, “I am new here, come with me, I will drop you off at home on the bike.”

He thought it was too late so it would be better to go with him so he went with him. Delta School was close so it did not take long for them to arrive but the man did not stop at Delta School even Murad told him to stop but he did not, at that moment he remembered his mother’s words. Suddenly he saw the police, screamed and informed the police that he was being kidnapped. The police caught him and rescued the boy. Then he realized and promised that he would continue to obey his mother.
