Blog: Miserable condition of Kech

Author: Mehran Nasir Nokabad (Kech)

District Kech is the second biggest and developed city of Balochistan and it is also known as the land of legends like Atta Shad, Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi, Mullah Fazul, Kareem Dashti and many others. They were the symbol of prosperity who served their lives for Baloch nation and gave light to the nation.

Unfortunately, the current situations of Kech district are strange and devastating. However, district Kech is surrounded by crimes, robbery, snatching events which are taking place in everyday. The changing situations of Kech are leading the majority towards fearfulness. Everyone is frightened stepping out and target killing is on its peak, robbery in public places and snatching on gun point is highly increased. The question arises that who is responsible of these all crimes? Furthermore, the middle class and lower class families are living a rough and tough life. This is increasing inflation which has badly effected the two classes middle and lower. Iran border is a massive track for the market of Kech which is closed and banned, but due to the monopolistic sellers of market the prices of commodities know rising up but no falling down. The monopoly is that much high that the market itself decides and varies the prices there is no one to ask and inquire.

There are some quarries to the concerned authorities that who is responsible of this price hike, robbery, genocides, mental disturbance, poverty and many more? The -government is requested to eradicate these issues and solve the current problems of Kech.

Letter: Discrimination among transgenders

Author: Fahad GR

Transgenders have been given every moral right and been treated with equal rights. But in Pakistan, transgenders are not considered equal from the very beginning. Further, the recent announcement by the Punjab Govt of building separate institutions for transgenders has made this issue more complicated. This decision of Punjab government is a clear curse to gender moralities. If the separate Institutions are built, they will be more devalued by the society. Thus, we should encourage them to do everything instead of discouraging them. It is my humble request to the people to consider them as human and part of our country.

Letter: Drug addiction

Author: Grana Lal Baksh (Turbat)

Drug addiction is one of the most appalling harms of many societies. It hinders the development of a country and demolishes the life of youths. Drug addicts use drugs to cut themselves out of communication and forget the reality of life. They want to run away from their responsibilities and withdrawal from the barriers and challenges of life. It is fact that drug addicts lose their mental and physical proportion. Drug addicts cannot work regularly and do not know the importance of living and all the time busy with unnecessary things. I put my hands concurrently bidding to the government of Pakistan must give a glance at this issue.

Letter: Beggars in Pakistan

Author: Hammal Zahid (Kolahoo)

Most of the beggars are homeless and haven’t been able to find jobs.

Instead of them, children are also busy in traffic signals and other places in big cities in Pakistan. It is often a heartrending sight and we impulsively succumb to their plea for money. In reality, the money we give is not so much for the children as it is for the pleasure of seeing the young beggars’ smile, or self-pride at our charitable act to fulfil our sense of religious duty or to combat our own feeling of helplessness at the child’s situation. Studies in Pakistan have shown an association between begging and developing an inferiority complex, lack of self-confidence, loss of self-respect, and poor social skills. These children remain in a cycle of poverty. Their future is bleak. They develop mental health problems, become drug addicts and keep poor health. In short, the money we give them only pulls them deeper into the abyss.

I request to you that next time before giving money to a child beggar, please consider whether you are really helping them or pushing them deeper into misery.

Letter: No libraries for females

Author: Hammal Baloch (Balnigwar)

Libraries play an essence role for the development of a nation. But unfortunately, Balochistan’s major cities lack libraries, however, most other cities are thoroughly deprived from libraries. Turbat is one of those cities where library crisis is troubling the local people. It is giving tough times to females in particular who have no access to separate public libraries. A library is the basic need for all students whether a male or female but girls are being deprived from the availability of a library compelling them to say ‘good-bye’ to their self studies. It is requested to the Chief Minister of Balochistan to provide at least one separate library to the girls of Turbat.

Article: Poverty in Pakistan

Author: Maryam Ghulam Jan

Poverty refers to the lack of basic needs such as food, clothes, shelter, clean water and other all facilities which are needed for a good life. It is one of the biggest problems which most of the countries and people are facing. It kills people’s desires, development even their bodies, and make them to commit suicide.

And Pakistan is ranked among 43 countries that are the most suffering countries of poverty. Almost 40% of the population is living under poverty line.
In 2007, around 35.5 millions people of the population were living under poverty line, but by 2010 a big increase came and it became over 64 millions.

There are a lot of reasons for the poverty of Pakistan which include government bad policies, lack of education, corruption, large scale of import, moral culture, unemployment, increase in interest payments, heavy defence expenditures, low level of development, vested interest of politicians, unstable laws and orders, unstable state welfare institutions, lack of zakat, unstable industrialization and many more.

Pakistan is very behind in education system, in governmental institutions there isn’t any quality educational systems. Unemployment is in very high rate, a lot of professional are unemployed, but the biggest problems are the governmental bad policies and corruption.

In conclusion, it would be better to say that with an individual these problems cannot be solved, the government must take notice, and must do some actions.
There are a lot of solutions, but first the bad policies and corruption must be solved and the government must take some steps because poverty can be a reason for the destruction of a country.

Poem: Girls, not free birds

Poet: Sumiyya Baloch

Girls want to be free like a flying bird,

But oppressive societies cease them,

Whenever they want to fly,

People’s misperception cut off their wings,

Instead of being intelligent,

Their intelligence is getting wasted,

They are unable to raise their voices,

Because these innocent girls are speechless like dumb,

They never do grievances on anything,

Because their mouths are shut to grievance.
